TRIANON high rise in Frankfurt am Main awarded top LEED gold certificate

The TRIANON in Frankfurt has undergone certification under the LEED guidelines and has been awarded a gold certificate. This makes the office high rise on Mainzer Landstraße 16 one of the first existing properties in Germany to own an LEED gold certificate in the “existing building” category. With 69 points, the TRIANON is the top-ranked LEED-certified existing building in Germany and ranks among the best three in Europe.

In order to achieve the LEED gold status, the asset manager focused on increasing the resource and energy efficiency of the building during the two-year certification period. Since sustainability criteria were already applied during the construction of the TRIANON, the certification didn’t require fundamental changes. Thus, the waste avoidance processes have been optimised, the guidelines for the procurement of technical equipment and fit-out have been enhanced and measures for sustainably reducing energy consumption have been implemented. The green building certification was facilitated by argoneo, an EPM company, in cooperation with the construction and engineering services provider Drees & Sommer on behalf of the owner.

The TRIANON was completed in 1993. With its 186 metres in height, close to 70,000 square metres of lettable space and the characteristic triangular form, it is a landmark building of the Frankfurt skyline. The property is owned by the Eurozone Office Fund (EOF), which is managed by Morgan Stanley, and Art-Invest Real Estate. Key tenants include DekaBank, the law firm Linklaters and financial services provider Franklin Templeton. In addition, an extensive refurbishment of the reception area is scheduled to start this year.
